GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

Housing Symposium.  California Breathing will host a housing symposium save the date June 16-17.  For more information, see

 

Healthy Buildings.  The Healthy Building Conference and Exhibition will take place in Syracuse, NY, September 13 to 17.  See

 

Consumer Product Safety Commission.  CPSC hosted a meeting on March 12^th to discuss their Prohibition on the Sale of Certain Products Containing Specified Phthalates. Topics will include the requirements of section 108, scope of products subject to section 108, and phthalates test procedure.  See    Also, on April 22^nd, CPSC will host a roundtable is consult with interested stakeholders on safety standards for infant and toddler products.  This event will provide an opportunity for attendees to briefly present relevant information, ideas, proposals, or concerns about current or future standards as they relate to the infant sleep environment. 

 

Fire Retardant Dilemma Symposium.  The Green Science Policy hosts a series of symposia on Fire Retardant issues.  The next one is May 8, at UC Berkeley.  .

IAQ Scientific Findings Resource Bank.  In May of, we announced a new web site, containing summary information and  down loadable papers on the relationship of IEQ with people's health and work performance.  This site was developed by LBNL in collaboration with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  Recently, it has undergone a substantial website upgrade and change to a more convenient web address.  The most significant upgrades include:

• addition of a extensive section on building dampness and microbial-related health risks (replacing the prior very short summary)

• addition of SI versions of web sections to make the web site more usable outside of the US

• addition of new information on how ventilation rates in office buildings are linked to sick building syndrome symptoms
